Choosing the right translation...
There are a lot of Bible translations all translated from the original Hebrew, Greek and Aramaic into English. Some, such as the ESV, NKJV, KJV and NASV, are what's called Word for Word translations attempting to stay as close to the original text as is possible. Translations such as the NIV, CSB and NLT are what are called Thought for Thought where the translators have translated so as to best convey the heart and meaning behind the original text. Lastly there are what are called paraphrased bibles, such as The Message, CEV or Good News, where the text has been paraphrased into modern English whilst also removing phrases and terms that can be confusing for new Christians or younger readers.
