Description
Proverbs is a book of wisdom, similar in many ways to teh wisdom literature of the broader abcient Near East.
The predominant style is of a father instructing his son in the pursuit of wisdom and the avoidance of folly. While at first glance Proverbs seems mostly and simply practical advice, wisdom is more profoundly a theological idea, since it involves a relationship with God, characterised by godly fear.
The teaching of the book spans a broad spectrum of behaviours and actions as it differentiates wisdom from folly.
