Description

Aspiring singer-songwriter Jed King is struggling to catch a break and escape the long shadow of his famous father when he reluctantly agrees to a gig at a local vineyard harvest festival. Jed meets the vineyard owner's daughter, Rose, and a romance quickly blooms. Soon after their wedding, Jed writes Rose "The Song", which becomes a breakout hit. Suddenly thrust into a life of stardom and a world of temptation, his life and marriage begin to fall apart. The Song was filmed on location in Nashville and Kentucky - known for Americana music and family. Both figure heavily in the film. Music is more than a score in The Song, it is the backdrop from which the story unfolds. Viewers who love American music, indie singer-songwriters or dream of the allure of the road, will especially love The Song. Produced by a top-notch group of story tellers who believe in love, faith and family, The Song includes resources to strengthen couples and families. Running time 116 minutes Certificate 12

CLC World Review  (16.06.2018)

Together Magazine - DVD review by Josh Banks
Sometimes there is nothing better than sitting out on a summer evening listening to some southern country music and imagining you are on a ranch in the deep south - instead of Scotland - and I also enjoy a country Christian film which is exactly what The Song is. It is a movie that entertains and educates regarding what can happen when a life is lived apart from God and also walking with Him. Based on the writings of Solomon, this is a modern day take on temptation within a relationship. Jed King is a country singer who battles with living in the shadow of his famous father. He falls in love and marries a woman named Rose, and soon his music leads him into stardom. Unfortunately, this new, seemingly perfect life begins to take a turn when Rose isn’t able to accompany him on the road, mainly due to her father’s ill health. Soon a female country western star named Shelby Bale is travelling with Jed, but she has designs on him and it becomes more difficult for Jed to refuse her advances. As Jed reflects on the writings of Solomon, his life is soon a non-stop party and his affair brings him crashing to earth with many pieces to be picked up. However, there is a strong redemptive theme in the film. A movie that older teenagers and young adults will enjoy. Many Christians today may be facing the same situation, therefore it is an up–to-date and powerful movie to have sitting on the shelves of your store.
