The parables of Jesus may be familiar to us, but do we understand their purpose and meaning? John Macarthur emphasises the need for us to study Christ’s teachings carefully with the Holy Spirit’s guidance if we are to grasp the truth in each parable. As he takes the reader through each story, the author provides helpful information, such as historical and religious background and customs. He is careful to use Scripture to support his comments and arguments, and clarify meaning. His writing is easy to follow and holds the reader’s interest. Even if someone has been acquainted with these parables since childhood, as I have, there is more to learn from this book.
