Description
With prayers based on the Bible readings for every Sunday, plus major holidays such as Christmas, Easter etc., 500 Prayers for the Christian year provides a resource for Churches and individuals, for both corporate and personal worship, and forms an accompaniment to the two existing volumes in the ‘500 prayers’ series.
Each Sunday provides a prayer of preparation that goes along with the Psalm for that day, with prayers of praise, confession, and intercession around the other Bible readings. Designed with flexibility in mind, each prayer can be used as a set for the day or individually. A unique selling point for this book (and the series as a whole) is that the author has deliberately written them to avoid the traditional ‘churchy’ language of written prayers, creating a natural sounding and accessible resource.
Based on all three years of the Revised Common Lectionary (used by the Churches of England, Scotland, Wales, and Ireland, plus the Methodist Church, and United Reformed Church) a resource that increasingly being used informally by Churches using set readings for the first time (e.g. Baptist Union, Charismatic Churches).
