Description
The Gospel of Grace Through the Eyes of a Scottish Puritan
What happens when a sinner turns back to God? In The Forlorn Son, renowned Scottish theologian and pastor Samuel Rutherford explores the timeless parable of the prodigal son with warmth, depth, and gospel-centered passion.
Originally preached in the seventeenth century, these seven sermons reveal Rutherford’s remarkable ability to combine profound theological insight with tender pastoral application. As he traces the younger son’s rebellion, repentance, and restoration, Rutherford magnifies the mercy of Christ toward broken sinners and exposes the emptiness of life apart from God. Along the way, he addresses themes such as true repentance, the love of Christ, the dangers of hypocrisy, the nature of saving faith, and the joy of heaven over those who return to the Father.
Far from being merely a historical work, The Forlorn Son speaks powerfully to modern readers who long to understand the riches of the gospel and the heart of the Saviour.
In this book, you will discover:
