Written over 100 years before the fall of the Roman Empire, but still recited week-in, week-out by millions of Christians across the world each Sunday, the Nicene Creed is among the most influential and enduring documents in human history. The twenty-four reflections in this attractive and accessible new booklet from the Church of England encourage us to think more deeply about the deep truths contained in each line of the Creed. Each reflection explores a portion of the Creed through the lens of a short Bible passage and a simple reflection, accompanied by a treasury of prayers. These reflections have been developed in collaboration with members of the Liturgical Commission and will form a centrepiece of the Church of England’s contribution to this year’s celebrations marking the 1700th anniversary of the Council of Nicaea as well as providing a lasting resource from Christian education and formation.
