Calm provides United Methodist church leaders with the skills and tools to shepherd local churches through times of conflict and tension, including the current denominational schism, utilizing group activities, discussion, reflection, and worship to help facilitate healthy community decision-making and conflict resolution.

The Calm process is composed of four modules:
Acknowledging the Struggle
Understanding the Paths Forward
Making Informed and Collective Decisions
Reflecting on the Journey
Provides adaptations for groups gathering virtually
Does not promote specific outcomes but instead provides a set of tools for the local church to decide its unique path forward.
The authors are deeply connected in the Michigan UM Conference and hold degrees and certificates in a variety of topics including Conflict Resolution, Collaboration, Sustainable Development, Social Work and Behavoirial Health.
