In 1998, whilst living in France, Alan and Jean McKinnell started on a journey that would change their lives forever. They were living in Toulouse, France which was a long way from Tarbolton, Scotland, the small village they were from. They had “made it” – Alan had a well-paid aerospace job, living in a lovely house with a swimming pool, and despite only being 38, retirement plans were already in place.
However, the masks they wore were cracking at an ever-increasing rate and they were about to face a reality check that would take them on a journey from near divorce to freedom in Christ. A journey that was only going to be completed because of God’s unfailing grace.
This book is the story of that journey and what was waiting for them at the end of it. It contains the good, the bad and the ugliness of those years, told in a way that will help people struggling with life to know that no matter how dark life gets, there is a light at the end of the tunnel and his name is Jesus. The destination makes the pain of the journey so worthwhile.
