Lighting the Beacons aims to inspire hearts and kindle faith. Reflecting the author’s speaking experience, it draws people into a different world of fresh encounter with Jesus, of coaching by his Spirit, and then challenges them to look up and appreciate with fresh faith that this can be their reality.
It is deliberately written to reach the heart and the emotions. Augustine said of his mother Monica that she was the sort of woman she was because she was taught by Jesus ‘in the school of her heart’. As readers explore Scripture, the writings of the saints, and contemporary culture, their hearts will be enthused and encouraged that they can make a difference, that they can be beacons, with a vision for the transformation of society into a ‘land of hope and glory’.
